Matthew Smith

As a founding partner of SIMG with David Steele, Matthew has contributed a unique skill set for local, national, and international clients. He currently manages strategic communications for the Tohono O’odham Nation, Desert Diamond Casinos & Entertainment, and Tucson Medical Center, among others. He also served as the Southern Arizona Director for the successful Proposition 202 campaign, the largest campaign in Arizona history.

Matthew began his career in government as a staff member for U.S. Senator James Exon. He later served as Vice President of Marketing and Washington Operations for The Research Group where he was involved in high-profile campaigns on the state and federal level. In 1993, Matthew founded The Smart Campaigns Company, overseeing the government relations department where he focused his efforts on research, new technology, and communication strategies.

Matthew has served on numerous boards and commissions.  He currently sits on the Pima County Bond Advisory Committee and is also a member of the Tucson Conquistadores.
